This week, Houston Futures is putting on a Certificate in Strategic Foresight conference at the Magnolia Hotel here in the Bayou City with 30 business leaders from around the world who are interested in foresight from around the world. University of Houston Futures faculty, Dr. Peter Bishop, Andy Hines, and Terry Grim, are all presenting their thoughts on everything from systems thinking to framing techniques to scenario exercises. Real futures stuff!
While scanning for the blog during the scenarios portion, I came across these sets of “iteration cards” by designer Duncan J. McKean that help designers motivate product designers stuck in sketching paralysis. It reminded me of a presentation by Andrew Curry and Victoria Ward, Postcards as a Doorway to the Future, during the APF V-Gathering 2011 that spoke on the using of images to conceptualize futures. Maybe futurists can use these iteration cards the same way. Could be another tool in the box. Use well!
